Long Island AFA Scholastic Grant Program

Two $1,000 grants are available for high school students who are going on to college.  Applicants will have a relationship to the Air Force family as described on the grant eligibility page.  Application deadline is June 30 of each year.

USA Today Visions of Exploration

This program recognizes teachers for their accomplishments and achievements in exciting K-12 students about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow's technologies.  The program is designed to award teachers who further excellence and make coming to class an adventure. Yearly recipient receives a check for $250.00, a Certificate of Excellence, an AFA tote bag and a complimentary Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Membership.  Teacher is submitted as applicant for NY State Teacher of the Year.

Chapter Teacher of the Year (TOY) Program

USA TODAY Education in partnership with AFA chapters helps students to become:

  • inspired to explore careers in the fields of STEM disciplines

  • aware of the importance of aerospace technology for today and in the future

  • knowledgeable on how to think critically and communicate both orally and via the written word

  • prepared for the world beyond the classroom
